Can anyone tell me if i should be running my car with the heated manifold plumbed in on not?

surely it warms the air going in to the engine and ruins the cooling my intercooler will be doing?

can someone please tell me the theory behind this?

thanks
Jim

way i see it is if you have a intercooler then NO.
but if your not then YES, as it would/could efectivly cool the inlet temp rather than heating it!

To my mind the air spends so little time there the amount it will get heated is not worth bothering about.

What it will give you is protection from carb icing in cold weather and several other benefits for a daily road car which are worth having. It will all be connected up on my girlfriends car when finish!

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Oh indeed! Like the time I had the throttle stick wide open on a freezing morning. Not easy holding your car off the one infront with nothing but drum brakes. Stopping on a frosty layby from 50mph was tough too. But saying that surely there wouldn't be much of a risk of icing up on a turbo lump?

Throw an intercooler in there, to chill things even further. Then icing can be a very real problem. Although a quick blast soon thaws it out...

Best to stop for a few mins and leat the engine heat soak through though.

I cut them off too.....

TBH I dont think they would stop the carb icing up anyway. Although would defo help the situation.
