Hi everybody, I have just replaced my speedo cable again and its just snapped after 17 miles. Looks like the problem is the cable , which has a tight bend in it as its running tightly around the plenum chamber. Are there any mods here? or will I have to remount my speedo? Searched the forum for this problem but no joy.

Any centre speedo runners please give me a shout!

Cheers

Deano

I like nice quiet girly Minis

Cheltenham, Gloucestershire

Min-Its do a slightly longer cable for the central speedo so that the bends can be more gradual / wider radius. Worth a try mate.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Its also possible to get a 90 degree gearbox to fit right behind the speedo. Also worth a try maybe?

Thankyou chaps for the feedback, longer cable sounds a good option, and where can you get an angled gear adaptor for the speedo?

I don't think you can get the angled adaptors new any more, but the do turn up on ebay occasionally.

yes I think you can? the name of the company escapes me, but I think its called speedometer-something. They are expensive but am able to help people with old S instruments that does not work, and also old camdriven tachos. Will let you know if I can remember the name.

Well if they are I'll be wanting one!

my turbo's going to be roughly where the carb would normally be and i want to get everything away from it, the speedo cable is probably one of the more tricky bits!

The angled heads were used on (amngst many other vehicles) 1970-1984-ish RangeRovers. That's where mine came from - same probs as you!
