My advice is to have lots of 998 fun - as there is little chance you'll be able to afford much else (insurance wise).

oh - Welcome.

Welcome, as dave says get a 998, they are alot of fun, cheap to insure and tuneable, after a few years driving experience and no claims then you can look at larger mods/ engine transplants.

Who was that quote from? In my experience you will get slaughtered for insurance until your 18 then give somebody like HIC (same people as do the Miniworld insurance) and you'll get a much better rate.

Hi by the way ....

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

welcome to tm.

When i was 18 my insurance on a 998 with alloys  was £1400, but i do have one of the worst postcodes around. The year after that it was £700 i think. Havnt insured it for a while as its not exactly road legal at the mo, but will be interesting to see what i get quoted on a turbo now that im 22.

Good luck finding a car, might i suggest paying a bit more for one that needs minimal welding as you'll curse youself when you have to do the scuttle corners, floors and sills on a £150 mini like mine *frown*

mini sprite is a 1275 i think,

mini mayfair has a reccounter as standerd and a suposidly nicer interiour!lol. it also has slighty tinted windows!

the mini city e was the cheapest most commonest mini i think! but there all the same realy!

try footmanjames for a quote, you will have to ring them up as they wont quote you online untill your 21.

i paid £525 tpft, 6000miles limited for my first year when i was 17, now i pay £630 (i think) with alloys, fully adjustable suspension, 4pot calipers, stage 1 kit, rear seats (foam) and rear belts removed, thats tpft unlimited milage and 3 points.
i got that quote when i was 18 and with 1 years ncb.

also when you start looking at minis, dont jump the gun and get the first one you see, unless your happy with the way it is etc. i saw about 7 before i got mine! and the one i bought was the cheapest and by far the most soild!

cheers
