if you do decide to take the whole carb/maniflod off, just loosen the 4 inside manifold nuts and slide the whole manifold up, and the reverse for re-fitting, its a right bind and a half getting the manifold nuts on with the manifold in place...

i find only a few drips if that comes out just try not to tip the carb or let the pipe drop.

not all that much, if your worried about spilling fuel plug them up.
