I popped in to see the much recommended 'Uncle Ray' at T&M in Colchester yesterday.

I can now see why you guys speak so highly of Ray, he is fantastic! Thanks for the recommendation Tony and Matt.

I went in with a lumpy, laggy running car which made 93.2bhp @ 7psi. And came out with a beautifully smooth 108bhp @ 8psi. Not bad for a pretty standard Metro turbo engine with P2 cam, 1.3 roller tip rockers, 2wd cossie intercooler and std C/R.

I'm looking to go back with a different head to drop the c/r and hopefully make a sensible 130bhp to use on a daily basis.

Nice one mate, you wont go far wrong if you stick with ray for tune ups, did he have to profile your needle at all?

Josh_tacon, peter baldwin is another bloke that knows his stuff when it comes to setting up a turbo a'series. His rollers read a bit high but as long as you stick to them you will know of any gains. Hence why we class them as bananas on here

yer ill get him to set it up and then theres another rr thats suposed to be acurate (northampton motorspot i think) and ill just go there for a power run to see what it actoly is!
why doesnt baldwin just get his rr re-calibrated? so its not as far out?

Yes, he did re-profile the needle, I was really impressed. The last place that I visited seemed scared of getting thier hands dirty. Ray got straight in there and actually made changes to get the car set up properly.

Matt, Ray mentioned your car. He is good at keeping secrets, but gets really excited about your car. He did metion the power that yours is currently putting out. Is it confidential, or are you willing to share it with the world?

I was in there from 8.30 till 11.30, he charged 110 + vat. This included a set of bosch platinum plugs.

I think hoggy has the special number, think thats the one that goes straight to the work shop.
