Been trying to take off my clutch master cylinder off today
Ive tried everything. nightmare lol
On The split pin, one ends longer then the other. got 1 stright, but the longer ones bent round abit. ive Used pliers, pinchers, But cant bend it back,
even tried pulling it out, plus it just seems to turn around.
and its very tight in there.
Anyother tips please thanks :)

Use a flat headed screwdriver to bend the split pin back a bit and some playing around with the pliers to get them in the right place, then just pinch the split pin and pull it out.

its a frustrating job. :)

some people use a suitably sized R pin for these, i found using one of those tiny magnets on the end of an extendable pen handy for putting the split pin back in...

yes, a royal PITA!

I found a couple of pairs of really long nose pliers, and a screwdriver and a hell of a lot of fucking about normally gets the job done...

if you use an R clip be VERY carefull!!!!

use the smallest one possible and check that it clears everything and fits well, I had one in my clutch clevis and found out that if they point straight down (or up depending on your idea of up and down!)
they can catch on the sticky up bit on the bulkhead and push up and out... the clevis pin can then wiggle out...

not the best thing to happen on a clutch master a tad worse on a brake master...

If your stripping the car out and removing the pedal pox it's often easier to remove the central pivot so the pedals are free and then remove the master cylinder from the studs. You can then get to the split pins from above by pulling the master cylindes up until the pedal hits the bulkhead .... very easy.

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

There on runners, so i can move the seat back and forth. not sure how to get them off.. only way i can see is to take them the runners off while the seat is still attachted to the runners.. that be ok ?

Undo the master cylinder (2 bolt on it) pull it up as far as you can then you can so the pin and splitpin under neath it from under the bonnet.
Rip the splitpin out with a pair of longnose pliers

At last i did it 8-)
Got the seat out. must say, much easyer,
But still a nightmare to get off. in the end i lost the plot, and said coughfuckcouchthis. and pulled it out with superman strengh *surprised* lol
And as the clip came out, bang went my hand.
But hey, thats all part of the parcel.
I emptyed the clutch fluid in to a bottle, and there was a bit of crap at the bottom. anyways. whats sort of clutch fluid should i get for it when i top it back up ? and should i drain the clutch system out,
Or would it be ok just to top it up with some new fluid.
Thanks for ya help once again :)

Hi all,

I am on the same task at the moment, removing both clutch and brake master cylinders, i have got the R-Clip out no problems, i am just struggling with the Pin/bolt (completly forgot technical term for this) what actually holds the fork to the pedal,

How hard should this be to pop out when trying to removing these cylinders?

Cheers,

Jamie.

I did mine last night. The speing on the pedal makes it difficult to push the pin out, so just apply a little pressure and the pin will come lose and push out.

Getting them back in is much more difficult.

Just to clarify what Ben said. The return spring on the pedal tends to keep the pin in place.

A light press on the pedal should allow easy removal of the pin.
