Just wondering if anyone has had this b4

I got my subframe all nicely bolted in place
I used solid tower mounts
solid rear mounts
and poly tear drops

Now When I dropped the engine in ; For love no more could I get the ruddy engine mounts to line up ... i must have spent 3 hours trying ; but eventually did it
A mate told me after that if i loosened off the subframe tower bolts ; It would have made life easyer

Bollox or Fact ?

i had the same trouble dude, took me ages to get the rad side to line up! i put solid rears and uprated towers and tears. never even thought about loosening the towers. i swapped all my mounts over while the engine was out too.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Subframe mounts wont move the subby engine holes *smiley*

Just leave the mounts loose and get a bar in the hole to align, new mounts tend to be harder. Genuine mounts fit the easiest by far, the only one's ive had problems with were non genuine.

Hee Hee - Bet i know what the problem is!!!

The fabricated engine mount at the rad end must be left loose, and the bolts tightened up once everything is in place! You've no chance otherwise!

Yep, i had trouble when fitting new engine mounts, they were captive nut ones as well so you got to be careful barring it, the old engine mounts weren't a problem.

Think next time i'll try standard gen engine mounts, and see how it goes

same as you, lots of swearing, crowbar, lump hammer etc.
i used the captive nut ones aswell. it was easy on the last engine swap i did but i re-used the old mounts that time.

yeah thats another good tip dave, basically leave loose what you can tighten up afterwards.

This really only being the engine mount that doubles as a rad bracket like dave says.

A flip front helps access no end but thats a little extreme for some people! *smiley*

well despite what alot of people said against them, im useing those quick release mounts, and dureing teh initial running of my engine where i was pulling it out every other day to check stuff/swap final drives etcetc these mounts were a joy to use.
