so if you do a 13.01 you dont need a cage but if you do a 12.99 run you do need a cage hmmm no longer a series, but still 1.3 turbo.

Paul - speak to Jim and get the contact for where his cage came from; IIRC the base section was a T45, which was added to (in lots of ways) buy OwensFabrication. I remember being amazed at how light a handful of T45 tubes were when I picked them up with one hand.

It depends really whether it is an fia approved jobbie that you need or whether its your safetu you are more worried about. The msa blue book specifies a cold drawn seamless t45. If you fancy doing one yourself then Elmdon Metals sell the specific approved roll cage stuff then you just need to bend and shape as appropriate! |

Does the blue book now say T45? Used to give two types T45 at one section / wall thickness and CDS at a different section / wall thickness.

But if I fit a cage, I can lose that weight by making alloy boot floor, parcel shelf, rear bulkhead, bottom dash rail, front wings and front panel. Paul STEEL body shell as in "ferrous" not fookin alluminium lol. now where did a i put dave hollis's phone number |

T45 is the pre-requisite for FIA cages -you'll find it in the book - there are other materials avaialble now which are for all intents and purposes T45 - but as they don't have T45 in the title it can't be used!

As I understand it T45 for FIA approved events and CDS is ok for most UK events run by the MSA.
