std is the standard one

H/D is the uprated one

Poly steady bar bushes are usually stiff than a teenager in a brothel and thus can be a bit harsh for road use to some minds.

I always use poly at one end and H/D rubber at the other, but then again I run an ultimate with poly at one end and H/D rubber at the other along with 2 gearbox steadies each with poly at one end and H/D rubber at the others and the engine still rocks .....

Poly ones are often around 90 shore and thus offer almost no complience so you will hear and feel the engine movement through the shell, they also put a bit more stress on the mounting points (bulkhead one is usually the first to go).

That said .... for a track car I'd rose joint it ..... makes the poly bushes look floppy!!!!!

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Im going with the rose jointed ones. Fast Carl sells em, or you can go with the ones from specialist components.

if you're not bothered about noise and vibration (basically a race car) then rose jointed are the ultimate as there is no movement. they do however wear and are more expensive.

I have 4 fitted.

Rose jointed steady bars will drive you mad in a road car!!!

Trust me, one poly and one rubber is a good place to start and as all the bars use the same bushes you can just by a couple of sets of each with no wastage. I use front suspension tie bar bushes on my ultimate engine steadies.

Served me well for the last decade plus and I see no reason to change.

imo the poly ones are a waste of money, had a set in mine and they were fucked in less than a month. i always used to use the std minispares rubber ones and got 6+months out of em.

now using the SC rose jointed one and its excellent, haven't noticed any extra noise/vibration really but i have lost the big clang every time i change gear!

everyone used to moan about solid mounted subframes making extra noise and vibrations, now its the steady bars...we drive minis ffs not bentleys.

FWIW

I have been using the minispares uprated bushes for ages and replacing them quite often,

Last time i changed them i put in avonbars one peice red poly bushes, they semm to be holding up very well so far.

H/D rubber at one end of the bar, Poly at the other.

Mini13 is right, the two piece (plus sleeve) poly bushes are rubbish (as Bud666 said also).... but the single piece (plus sleeve) ones are really good ..... as they can be a pain to fit.

Avonbar stuff is usually good quality.

I normally get all my bits from Min-Its ..... what Dave doesn't know isn't worth knowing .... probably forgot more than most will ever learn!!!

I got the complete front subframe kit, so it came with that, but also has the top subby mount, tie bar bushes and the lower arm bushes.

My mini isnt on the road atm but i did have poly bushes on the engine bar and it wasnt any louder.
