The valve works by opening the inlet manifold to atmosphere to the point the mixture goes so lean it won't run any more.

Easy to fit, just look at the diagrams in the Haynes and it will all become clear.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

i bet the ignition timing is over advanced! try that and the mixture as said above, then think about the anti run on valve.

The timming was set up by morspeed on the rolling road. so should be bang on. its done it for ages. If any one has a anti run on valve kicking around let me know.

carbs an HIF 44 right?

Try removing the advance pipe and bunging the hole up on the carb, it'll make the mid range crappy but may get rid of the over running.

If so it could be that you need to mod the carb. the reason being that to help with idle emisions the take off for the vacum advance was moved from just on the filter side of the throttle butterfly to just on the engine side. This caused the advance to go right up on idle in comparison to a normal carb. This is the reason the anti run on valve was added.

The vac advance pipe is blocked off already as my dizzy doesn't have a vac advance. it possibly could be leaking possibly but that would give diffrent set of problems.

no vac advance means less mpg on cruise

morespeed may have timed the car in for optimum performance

compounding this issue of run on
try backing the timing off 2 to 3 deg

The dizzy is comming out soon along and the car is currently off the road until end of april (doesn't come out in the cold) so once it got that fitted i'll see if i can get it to stop.
Thanks all
Alex.
