Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Had some stuff delivered by a courier today. Now they tried delivering it to me but i was out, so they took it next door.

They signed for it in good faith and off the lorry driver went. i came home and got it from them, opened the box and it was damaged...

Not that badly but its an expensive bit of kit. Only cosmetic by first glance that can easily be made to look like new.

I ring the company and they ask was it signed for?

I say yes but it wasnt at my address and i never specified for it to be left at any other address. I'm awaiting an answer but just thought i'd see if anyone else has had any other ezxperiences.

Next door took it in good faith and they're an old couple and its not their fault.

I'm playing along the lines of "you never delivered it to my address, nor had my permission to deliver it to any other"

How do i stand? *frown*

They shouldnt have delivered it to anywhere else apart from the address that is on the card that was used for payment, if they did without your permission then there in the wrong.

Ive had damaged items delivered a few times and now whenever i get a delivery, if the box is even slightly damaged, bent etc etc then i take photos before unpacking it just incase its damaged. theres no way the couriors or company you bought it from can say it was you who damaged it.

Thinking about it as well, i thought anything bought on 0% finance (why not have my interest for 12 months *wink* ) had to be delivered to the exact address.

Oh well, fingers crossed it will get sorted, give me £50/£100 and i'll take it as it is, providing it doesnt effect the 2 year warranty

depends on how the terms of carriage are worded i would ask them for a copy.

Also was the outer box damaged or just the item?

well just looked at the form and the bit they have to fill in saying "left at number XX" does actually say (as part of they're standard thing)

"left as instructed at..."

There we no instructions so unfortunately someone doing me a favour has actually caused him/her grief.

Should get it sorted tomorrow, just wanted some opinions. plus i've been waiting 2 weeks for it!!! grr!

Ive been told by courier company's when Ive sent stuff out, that you must specify if you don't need a signature or if you have specific instructions.

If a parcel is left without a signature or with a neighbour (in your case) and you haven't instructed them to, then it is the driver that is held personally responsible as the goods are his responsiblity untill the consignee has received there goods.

Which courier company is it?

It was night freight.

But this morning i had a conversation with the company i bought it off. They rung the couriers and they admitted it was damaged when it was left and that they didnt deliver to the correct address *happy*

They're replacing it with a new one which suits me. only pain in the arse bit is i have to wait a few more days for it to all be swapped over!! *frown*

Anyway, worth sticking to your guns is the name of the game!

Hope it helps some others.

Sounds like a company that is trying to sort out a mistake they made. Good on them. *smiley*

but they still said they tired!! they got some 'choice' words from me and it got sorted out in the end, free of charge!
