Right here the choice take 1 1275cc engine (or 1293, 1340, 1380) and add either a Vmax supercharger kit or a minisport 7 port head? which would you do?

Neither, as none are proven to be as good as a turbo'd 5 port.

I know this is a turbo site but the supercharger has its advantages in certain areas.
And if you fitted it yourself (as most of you do with turbo's) it wouldn't cost a small fortune.

First mini turbo to get in the 12's & site perv

Herefordshire

id go for the 7 port, just because ive always wanted one

but the gains from the supercharger would potentially be greater....

I agree with roger, partially...*tongue*

The easiest cheapest way will be a turbo'd 5 port,

A supercharger although it will not have the same outright horsepower as a turbo setup is still a very good setup as there is no lag or boost threshold or whatever you want to call it. Although with the right turbo you can pretty much eliminate it anyway.

The 7 port has been made a bit redundent now by John K's kit's, with a similar amount of farting and cost about you get 16 valves!! if the bimmer parts had been available when i bought my 7 port i would have probably gone that route.
