After reaching a masive weight of 98.8kg (15stone 5 in the old money) I have decided to lose weight! Well Actually I have been losing weight over the last month but only got the courage to post this now. Do I sound like a girl? YES! Anyway, on another forum I frequent, a bunch of people started a health kick, with weekly "weigh ins" (i.e they posted their starting weight, current weight, weight lost over past week, weight lost total and goal weight). I though this was a good idea. Who's in? I have cut out the junk and do about 2 hours cardio exersise a week. Well OK, I walk (not exactly macho but hey it works). I'm not jogging for love or money, too self conscious to flap about in public.

So who want's to join me?

im 16 stone!!
want to lose wight but foods just so dam tasty!! lol

the only time i lost wight was when i went a bit mad and started weight training in my mates garage every night! and just ate stuff that had alot of protien in like tuna. it gets boring after a while, but you just have to convinve your self its worth it! lol

i stoped as i was nackerd once i got home from work. i just got out of rotine and the muscel just went to flab!

one thing about weight training and losing weight in general is the confidnce it gives you!

i think im just going to have to get back into the old routine of weight traing.

diets dont work for me as if i get hungry and pissed off and get shaky! lol is this normal??

cheers

i'm carrying just a couple of extra pounds nothing major *tongue*
i figure it'll cost less to lose weight from the driver than from the car so i'm gonna try that first, lol.

i also refuse to ponce around in public though!

Ive found that no matter what I eat doesn't make any difference, only the amount of exercise I do does.

I get really shaking and light headed if I don't eat, so could never go down the route of dieting etc...

I need about 2 stone off, I got half a stone off so that's 1.5 to go. Weights are great, you do feel good afterwards but I found without the cardio exercise I gained muscle but lost no fat so got bigger! Once I get down into the low 14 stone area I'll get back on the weights.

I have replaced anything junky with fruit and have just cut out all choc, crisps, sweets etc and no Mc Donalds, BK, chinese etc.

So:

Start weight: 15st 5lbs
Current weight: 14st 8lbs
Weight lost this week: 1.3lbs
Weight lost total: 10lbs
Target weight: 12st 9lbs

Generally if your shakey and light headed you've gone too far! There's a difference between dieting and starving. Dieting is eating more of the right stuff and less of the wrong stuff, starving gets you nowhere. Glad there's more that just me wanting to loose weight!

the thing i find i can put muscel quiet easy by doing weights etc, but i find it hard to loose the fat.

one of my mates can eat what he wants, and he eats alot more crap than me and dosent do any more excersie than me but stays slim! basturd!!
its all about matabolisum (SP??).

some people are thin and find it hard to mucel on and fat on (if you know what i mean?
some eat what they like and it dosnt make the slightest bit of differnce,
some people gain muscle easy, but struggle to loose the fat!
i read somthing like that on the net i think, ill try and find it, its a little more detailed lol
o and i probobly drink to much larger at the weekend! which doesnt help matters lol

cheers

Whats your blood pressure like??

When I got married at 23 I was your original 9 1/2 stone weakling with a 105/70 blood pressure all was fine till I stopped smoking then the weight went up and so did the BP

Last year I hit 195 lbs (14 stone I'm in America now!) and despite beta blockers I was creeping over the safe limit again ..135/90

I started a low sodium diet and pretty quickly I got down to 175lb my Bp is back to a normal 120/80 and I am off the Beta blockers.

When given the choice of "eat it or get fat" I eat it
When the choice is "eat it or die of heart failure/stroke" I dont eat it. ...Worked for me!!

I think that in general, regardless of the subject at hand, this is great advice!

I used to train a lot when I was younger, played rugby and cricket at county level as a school boy and used to cycle around 100 miles in an average week. I was never a slightly built guy but in 1999 I made the biggest and most regretable decission of my life ..... I went to London for work!!!

Just about everything stopped over night and for the few years I was there I barely did anything other than cycling and that was only to commute ... when I moved to Wembley to be nearer work I found it too intimidating to cycle as I just didn't feel safe one the roads (standard of driving in London is the worst I have experienced anywhere in the wrold!!!!) and you can't ride off the road because I knew too many people get mugged for their bikes.

Any way that's a little O/T but the point is that I went from being very active to not with no real change to diet or drinking habits and put on nearly 4 stone in 3 years!!!!!!!!

It's all about exercise and being sensible with food ..... that said I have a friend that hasn't had a kitchen for several years and lives of take aways, fast food places and microwave meals and is built like a matchstick .... that said he does hard physical work 6 days a week.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

I sound like you Josh, can build up muscle but the fat stays. I admit I was only doing weights for 2 months so maybe I didn't do it long enough. Everyone's right it's all about your activity level. A friend of mine is the same height as me (6"2) but weights about 11 stone. He eats like a horse but we calculated he walks to work a total of 7 hours a week and goes to the gym 4. That beats my paltry 3 hours a week walking and explains how he is a stick. However some people are rediculusly thin, do nothing all day and can't put on weight even if they tried.

So over the long weekend (off yesterday) I put on 600g yay! Didn't leave the house, way too windy and it was snowing. Just sayed at home and polished the mini.

I've stopped eating shite and lost near on 2 stone since xmas. Its starting to slow off now though so I need to start thinking about changing other things. I am lucky to have an active job so that helps, I also do roughly an hours exercise most nights, I'm not telling you what though!
