hey chaps, right after making my own oil return plate at work i came to fit it and mock fitted the turbo on an old 998 head.
but the bottom of the compressor housing is resting on top of the oil pipe!
i can get the flexi pipe on but my worry is tht the turbo will melt through it!!!! also the oil return from the turbo does not line up with the block plate, the turbo seems to be sitting low.
any ideas, have i made the plate wrong in some way???

also forgot to ask, will a standard hydraulic hose be suitable for the turbo oil feed, just that i can get one for nout?

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

you need to drop the pipe inlet on the plate you made further to the btm

by modding it

as there is ample room for the oil to return to the sump

think about it and have a look *wink**wink*

What block are you using? The 998 block is about 3/8" shorter than a 1275.

should the standard turbo block come with an oil return pipe adaptor plate where the N/A mechanical fuel pump usually goes? or is it just summat you gotta make yourself?

Is it better to just put a blank and tap a hole into the back of the gearbox?

well im using a cooper spi 1275 (1300) block. dont supose using a 998 head to mock up will have any effect on where the turbo sits. i thought they were pretty much the same?

So where abouts in the gearbox you put the return? Any pics would be fantastic!

well i cut the pipe and re-welded it closer to the bottom, so when its fitted its pretty close to the bottom of the hole in the block, but its still fouling the turbo!!!! now im really stuck??

Jamie .... just a tip buy the way ..... run some thinner (something like a 5w10 or something) clean oil backwards through the turbo before fitting. It has been stood for a while and although it was wrapped I'd still prefer it if you flushed it before fitting .... better same than sorry!!!!

On my way to get you some pictures!!!

well cut the pipe off (again) and managed to get it so its sitting absolutely flush will the hole in the block.
then shaved a small amount off the pipe at an angle so that it sloped down. re-welded and just clears with the flexi pipe on.
i know its not ideal to have the pipe sloping down for drainage, but could not see what else i could do. besides the angle is only very slight.
thanks again for the helps

Glad to hear that you have it sorted .... feel slightly better that my pictures last night came out so black you couldn't see a thing ..... odd.

A small mis-alignment won't matter, the fluid cought in the dip in the hose will be mixed with the flow out of the turbo when running ..... shouldn't cause any sludging problems or similar.
