just a thought but if the cover has more mass than the flywheel where the flywheel may be getting hot enough for it to become the weaker material and wear away, leaving that side fo the plate fine, with a knackered flyweel. god ihope that makes sense turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

the plate will wear on the backplate side more, as this is where it takes up.all mine over the years have been like this,

could it be the flywheel isnt seating fully on the crank taper?
