Actually, hopefully a supercharger, but we'll see...

I hope to be making a supercharged 7-port but I'm not sure how plausible this is, and I thought this would be the best place to find out.

So hello to all, and please be patient with my dumb questions!

Cheers,
Nick

As long as you get the compression ratio down a bit if the head has been used on an NA engine theres no reason why you shouldnt be able to did it that I can think of? I believe Steve harris of Haris motorsport was looking to use the 7 port head on his hillclimber, he might be able to help, if you need to contact him, ring BJ autobits on 01725517999 if your down the Blandford direction on easter Friday I believe they are having an open day? Definatley worth going down there, even if its just for a nose around the workshop?

Hello, and thanks for all your hello's!

Mini13, did you mean the two links in your signature, or should there be another link in the post? I couldn't see anything about the compression of a 7port in either of those 2 links... (nice build by the way!)

Thanks, Nick

Sorry,

I just meant it as a look what i've been doing for some ideas...

But yes compression ratio...

The 7 port head is not a terribly thick casting behind the combustion chamber, so basically you want to remove as little material as possible, Stuart Gurr at Vmax did my head, he is pretty experienced in getting BIG chambers from the A series head and wasn't comfortable going over 24cc with my head which suits me as its just about big enough that you can use it for turbo and small enough that it can be used NA.

for a 1293 with a 24cc head and around 8.5:1 CR your looking at 15cc pistons.

I would like to run my head on a blown 1380, 1430 or 1460 at some stage, the biggest dish pistons available are 18cc that make 8.5 on a 1380, 8.8 on a 1430 and 9 on a 1460.

Note that these figs are approximate and will depend on the build!!

More of an issue is plugs, I havent seen a finished Minisport head so I'm not sure wht they do about the plugs, but i do know they use 3/4" reach plugs which are masivly short in my head, really it needs 1" reach plugs but they just arn't available in the heat range needed, Peter Vickers who did the 7 port head for Paul Wiltshire from Miniworld counter bored the plugs an extra 5mm, I am going to follow suit and hope to hell there isn't any casting diferences in this area between the AKM casting (that Paul Wiltshire has) and my minisport casting. And iff i need any more Take a bit off the plugs.

hope that helps!

Joe.
