Afternoon all,

First post, so hope it's in the right place. Apologies if not!

In about a year i'll be looking to get a new engine. I want to keep it A series with carbs and I'm hoping to get about 150 - 160 horsies. There are several options but I'd like to do something a bit different to the standard turbo thing. I was thinking along the lines of a 7 port head with the Vmax scart supercharger kit. However I've heard that, when using a turbo, there isn't much to be gained from going from 5 port to 7/8 port, hence in that situation a 7/8 port head is a waste of 壣. Is this the same for a supercharger?

Also (sorry, I know it's 2 questions in one thread, but they are related...) I was looking at using a 1380 block but have heard that, again with a turbo, they are not reliable enough as the walls between the cylinders (especially 2 & 3) are too thin. Is this the same for a supercharger also?

Hi Nick, with a supercharge on a 1380 you should get 150bhp i would geuss, like wise with a 7 port head on a 1380 150bhp should be do able. People on here run 1380 with a turbo with out problems. I would put the money in to a 16v K1100 bmw head convertion.

Welcome buddy, this theory about forced induction and 1380 "bore flex" has been proven to be a load of tosh by a number of members on here who are running 1380 turbos reliably.
