One wire from the ignition light should go to 12v via ignition switch, the other wire goes to the alternator.
It lights when the engine is not running making earth through the windings, as soon as the engine runs the alt makes 12v and therefore the light receives 12v from both sides so the light shall go out.
check this and you prob will find the answer there

I thought the orange light was the oil pressure light *wink*

and you have the metro turbo oil pressure switch in which is the oposite of the mini one as in when pressure is achived the light comes on instead of going out *laughing*

I think u are right

i folowed the wires and did some tests with a meter

the orange light does go down to the oil warning light
and the red down to the alternator !!! via a brown/yellow wire

So assuming that I am wrong about orange being charge indicator and red being oil and you are right !!!
Red being charge
orange being oil

then I dont have a problem !!!

ANyone follow my message ???

With the ignition on only the red illuminates
start the car and the red goes out ( CHARGING ??)
and the orange comes on (cos the metro sender is telling me I have oil pressure )

Anyone ???

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

Still go with a gauge though if you can, gives a much earlier warning *smiley*

If you use the metro turbo relay, connected as shown in the FAQ section, then the oil light works correctly.

But, you should also be fitting an inertia switch to the fuel pump and ignition. This is not shown on the fuel pump diagram.
