Its been about 8 years since i took the rad out of my mk1, and I can't work out how the shit it fits back in!!

the problem is there's the cowling on the inner wing, which is stopping me getting the rad in, there's just not enough room to get the bottom hose stub past the top of the cowling. Is the problem that I am using a 1 piece fan cowling rather than the early 2 peice?

I'm sure this was the cowling that was on the car and i'd had the rad on and off the car a few times. but i'm starting to doubt it the right one now?

Is there any Mk1 gurus that can help?

You should have the early 2 piece cowling on it, however if you removed it with a late 1 piece, you should be able to get it back in.

I seriously doubt it!

Thanks Paul,

I'm now thinking that this isn't the cowl I took off, the car used to have a 4 core rad in it which seems to have gone AWOL, probably along with the 2 peice cowl... bugger!

I think i'll chop the cowl and make it into a 2 peice and see if that helps.
