overboosting???

finally got me car MOT'd today, so ive been out all afternoon getting used to it. Since ive never drove a turbo car before let alone a mini turbo, 9i got a question.

when i put me foot down in 2nd/3rd when it gets to 5k rpm it starts hissing then dumps as i change gear. trouble is i haven't got a dump valve fitted, just the standard one in the plenum and as far as i know it should only be running 4.5psi as i haven't used the ecu and dont have a bleed valve yet. just wondered if you reckon if its overboosting? dont wanna blow me engine up yet and haven't got a boost gauge yet either.

the hissing comes in about 4k rpm in 3rd sometimes depending how far down me foot is, but its absolutley fooking flying, definately worth the time spent on the conversion. only trouble is i think ive cooked me brakes as they squeal like hell now.

get a boost gauge on asap. Prob is from plenum but i never remember hearing mine before i fitted D/V .

Everyone knows that instructions only have to be read if the thing doesn't work....

You've most likely got a leak somewhere blowing out air when it comes under boost. Mine did a similar thing when the pipe to the actuator split. Get a gauge on it as soon as, till then take it easy.

Yeah or the spring could be weak on the std DV in the plenum.

Get a gauge, save you money in the long run!

Sounds like excess pressure coming out the standard dump/blow off valve, like they've said get a gauge. Standard MG turbo flying?..hmm..bet you are running more boost then you think, they blow off at 10psi ish.
