anyone know if the downpipe on a metro turbo can be used on a mini? ““A turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.”” - Jeremy Clarkson

Yes, you can use it, it hangs a little lower than the aftermarket type. On 21st Jan, 2011 fastcarl said:

What diameter should the down pipe be as a minimum? and what diameter should each individual diameter be per port?

Try it if you want Iain, But you might want to measure the OD where the clamp sits first... I don't reckon there is much scope at all - not if you want it to be robuust at least! On 17th Nov, 2014 Tom Fenton said:

Yeah ill see what material there is there, also be good to machine a decent face rather than rough casting to sit the dowpipe on!

I was told that it is best to use a back box that has been specifically packed for a turbo application such as the maniflow exhaust

Turbo's arent bothered about any back pressure, any 2" system will do the job. How many boxes depends on what sound you want. Im not going with any and i still think it will be fairly quiet. |

thing is, i cant find a break point in the link pipe behind the knuckle joint like in the pics in the FAQ last time i looked which confused me, ill have to have a good luck and bring the metro roudn to the garage again tomorow. The engine is coming for it on sunday so ill be selling that! More mini turbo money!

there is a break about 12" after the knuckle, just the same as a normal mini exhaust.

Sorry, When i get this new metro engine for the metro turbo (its coming on sunday, guys rebuiding it up wiht new gearbox etc atm) Will i just need a metro manifold? Ive never seen one. Wil i be able to use the same exhaust system from this "break" to the rear? Sorry ive never seen the manifolds though. Other than that, can i use a stage one kit style exhaust system from a mini? eg, seperate inlet, twin lcb pipes and a Y piece?
