Got a Clarke 90Pro MIG this weekend. I know its a low powered one, but for £20! with full bottle of gas im not exactly complaining!

Fully working as well with new reel of mig wire

Is 90amp too weak to weld mini bodywork? im just learning at present to the 90is ok for that. On 1mm steel the highest setting blows a hole in the sheet

Well for 20 quid you can't go wrong!

should easily be up to the panel work, My 150 amp mig used to be set halfway max for pannels, I'd assume thats somewhere in the vague region of 75 amps or less.

90 amp should be ok for upto about 3mm stuff IIRC.

It will be fine for mini body and shell work.

I've used my Clarke 90 through my mini - panels, subframes, sills, bulkhead box, the lot.

Clarke claim you can weld 4mm with the 90, but manufactures lie, the welder will be good up to 2mm, maybe 3mm at a push.

If it's a second hand unit you've got hold of I'd recommend you get yourself a new shroud and definately some new tips, you might as well get some anti-splatter spray too, makes the tips/shroud last much longer. Good luck!

Yes, Im getting there.....

I like nice quiet girly Minis

Good machines the Clarkes, so long as they are looked after.

Looks like you got a real bargin!!

May I also suggest that at some point you change the liner for teh teflon one, makes it much more consistent in my experience.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...
