Hi all

I thought as that smoking ban thing will kick in soon how many people here acually do smoke?

Thought is seemed like a sensible topic with all these new laws kicking in

when i drove a 10" wheeled Mini last it felt insane !

i do, dont think it'll really affect me though tbh. can never affords to go out to pubs and stuff anyway.

I personally cant wait for the ban to come in, as a non smoker I hate comin out of the pub / club on a night out and smelling of smoke, think its awfull!

Personally I think it is the best law introduced in ages and am looking forward to being able to go out to places and not come back stinking to high heaven.

I think the ban is stupid. It is a half measure, either ban completely or not at all. All the smokers might be annoyed at first but would thank then in the end.

I've given up for 3 days now. 2nd attempt this year. They should do an out right ban. Tax money though innit!

i think the ban is good, i hate the smell and dont smoke myself and i honestly cant understand why people do smoke. but i dont think an outright ban is fair as i think people should have the right to smoke just not poison others in the process.

We've had smoking bans here in US cities for a few years now. I think it's great!

It's gotten to the point that when I travel to places like Vegas (which still allow smoking indoors), I am caught by suprise the awful stench of cig smoke!

im pleased its coming in, but dont buy the whole coming back stinking of smoke debate, as everyone fully knows that the smell of smoke normally replaces the smell of sweet sick where some 17 yr old has roalfed his innards in the corner. Good thing for pubs though!

I can't wait either, but mainly because it might be the final push to stop my girlfriend smoking. She is used to it already as I refuse to allow her to smoke indoors, in the car or any other confined space.

Nothing worse than people blow smoke in your face ..

Mate asked me a few weeks back if i minded him smoking in my car. Told him its fine as long as he doesnt mind hitting the road at 60mph

Here is SA, Aus they came in with all sorts of laws the eyar before last. I work in the kitchen at a pub (funds my mini!) and I like it. The rules were half-way not complete, I actually think they should all or nothing but heres what happened here. Just for pubs restruants have differnet laws again.

No smoking with a metre of the bar. a certain percent of tables must be smoke free, a certain percent of pokie machines must be smoke free (although the one right next to you m ight not be smoke free, silly) and if you have 2 or more bars at least one of those bars must be completely smoke free. Large fines apply to the pub owner if ppl are caught breaching these laws. OK rant over.

Smoking in resturants is bad manners. Even I don't do that......
My non smoking in general is not going to well....I'll keep trying though.

I love the non smoking. Here in Norway they banned smoking inndor on all workplaces, all resturants and bars a couple years ago. It works perfectly. A lot of people have stopped smoking the last years, and those who still smokes have to go outside :)

I used to smoke, so did most of my friends, but now nearly all of have stopped.
I can not understand girls who uses 2 houres on makeup and parfume, but then smokes and totaly destroys theyr look. Smoking looks just dirty!

i carnt see the point of having free smoking tables! the smoke doesnt just stay in one place does it!!
i can smell somone smoking in the car infront. or if a mate has a fag then gets in the car it smells like a burning fag! lovely!
i think they should just compleatly ban it in the same way norway have done. but i think that as im a non smoker i supose!

anyway i usuall only smoke in bed ...lol

the ban has been in up here for agees, its good. however you will notice tha tpubs/clubs now stink of BO and stale boose as opposed to smoke.

and all the tax the government will loose from this is only going to come from motorists..

But seriously a bunch of houses burnt down here last year for the reason, an old lady was smoking in bed and fell asleep.
