Just starting to rebuild my engine and i dont really want to chance putting my old oil cooler on cos its probs full of rubbish is there anyway to clean them making a job enough job to use again or is it a case of chucking and by new

You answered your own question really, a new one is cheap compared to the damage an old one full of swarf and shite could do.
