Any tip of knocking the bottom bearing race out of the crank case? (goes on the end of the shaft of the bottom drop gear) tool for job?

I assume you mean removing the first motion shaft bearing outer race from the transfer case.

As recommended in early Hyanes manuals:

Remove the clip.

Clean the case - needs to be spotless

Put it in the oven for 1/2 hour.

Get it out the oven and slam it down on a bit of timber.

The race will fall out.

Next step will be to placate wife/mother as you have stunk the house out!

I use this method. Got three different pullers for the A-series casings alone. Not cheap, but the proper tool.

thanks for that benross read hanyes it says do not apply direct heat but did say you could use boiling water but i thought this wouldn't be good enough! Read in that thread that people warm them so i might try a boil lamp! the way you did it was good but looked alot of work. just scared when might do damage to the bearing higher up and i dont want to change that
