Why don't many people seem to use exhuastwrap on minis?
Seems like a really good idea to me and i am thinking next time i need the exhaust manifold off i'll wrap it up.

my turbo manifolds wrapped, glad i did it this time around, under bonnet temps are significantly lower now!

lots of people don't use it because of cracking problems, as far as i know this is only an issue with stainless though.

i've wrapped mine for the past couple of years and i know need a new manifold. the standard cast iron metro turbo manifold has distorted to the point the stud holes are about 3 or 4mm out at each end!!

this distortion makes it a bitch to fit and the ports dont line up very well even after the use of a dremil

i cannot prove its due to the wrap but until wrapping i never had a problem. then again i've used the same manifold for about the last 12 to 14 years

It just doesn't seem to be a comman thing on minis and will with the NA carb monted were it is it makes sense to wrap the manifold.

stainless hose clamp.

I have used it but if you can have a choice ( budget wise) i would probably get it coated

That sir, is not rust, it is the progressive mass reduction system

i just wrap it round on its self and dont use any clips. much neater than clips and stays tight.

i use thin lock wire on mine.

I'm thinking of taking mine off now though after seeing a few of the super mighty's LCB's folding in half due to the heat being kept in them.

Lowestoft, Suffolk.

When I used it on my free flow manifold for my 998, I wrapped it on its self so i only needed to clamp it in one place, which was where it met th link pipe, I only used a stainless cable tie.
I now dont use it as layers of metal started to flake off the manifold!!
