I've got them on 8.4's and there excelent, its the same caliper that fits the 7.9's so there should be little difference.

wolfie have you got a servo?
i find my minispares 4pots to be good but the pedals only good (not spongy) once there warmed up!

as for 6pots im sure they dont have dust seals and are for race/track work only, unless you dont mind cleaning them ever other week!
4pots should be up to the job i would say.

cheers

minispares 4 pots stop my 200+ bhp mini fine!! Also most miglias run 4 pots too. Although most miglias run the kad 4 pots, I know for a fact that kad four pots and minispares 4 pots use metro turbo piston seal kits, there for the pistons are the same sizes there for, same performance (apart from unsprung weight)

And there Jimster puts it perfectly.

Do you really need anything better than Mety 4 pots for a normal road driven car? Probably not.

For a track based car where your likely to get the most from the car and notice the difference then anything you can do to get a reduction in un-sprung weight will pay off.

Mini spares 4 pots are great calipers and in my experience are more than up to the job.

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

-the first set were porous
-the second set were the first of the billet ones and had dodgy nipples (hoho)
-and i just couldnt get the last set to work at all (the previous 2 had)

I seem to be the only person in the world to have had problems with these. But mini spares took months each time to get another pair to me, i was so pissed off with the 3rd pair that i gave them away

trust u nic to get a dodgy niple!!! lol

i did have problems with mine at first as they were a pig to get the air out of them!!
mine have a shit pedal feel when they are cold or on a cold day ( i guess i dont get them as warm on a cold day? who knows! lol)
im thinking about fitting a remote servo in the inner wing or somthing, but thats going off topic a bit! lol
i would think the minispares ones are lighter than metty 4 pots arnt they?

cheers

Josh ..... they can be a pig to bleed (first time only in my experience) but I tend to take a stubourn caliper off and lift it as high as possible to bleed it .. normally helps.

The braking when cold issue is probalby down to pads (or vented discs in a light car that can't put the energy in to warm them). If your using Mintex pads I;d say that is why ..... never got on with those, try Ferrodo normal road pads for a road car and Ferrodo fast road pads for a quick car. EBC pads are good if you get the right ones for your application (some cars greens work, oters they don't).

Nic in fairness my last set were a pita to get working, turned out to be an iffy seal from new. Got a rebuild kit (for free in 3 days from MS Brum) and never had a problem again.

It's one of those things, I normally rate Willwood calipers but a set my friend has just had were only fit for scrap (porous) but Rally Design sent another set next day. Some people are not lucky people, I know I am not!!!!!

Ive had 2 sets of the old cast ones, (one of them used to be Jims iirc?) and found them to be spot on, they might not look flash, but they work great and weight naff all compared to the std iron 4 pots

Rodgers right about the Mintex 1144s, sometimes if they're really cold you notice it. I can't see why you have a spongy pedal only when cold though. When pads are out of their heat range (be it too hot or too cold) the pedal feels fine there's just no brakes. Maybe it's after you've pumped the pedal a bit it firms up.
