Some seem to drive nicer than others. Bit hit and miss.

I used a paddle plate in my mini, and probably covered an easy 40k a year. I didnt have any problems with it ( aside from replacing parts. They do wear the flywheel and cover surfaces much faster than a normal organic lining )

Some people are more adept at driving slightly trickier clutches than other people though. So hard to say one is good for someone....it might be nasty for others.

so would a organic AP rally plate from minispares cope with the same amount of power as a paddle clutch?
if thats the case whats the point in spending the extra money on one that will wear bits out quickly and be harder to use?

No. Paddle clutches grip better.

Minispares sell wo types of padle clutch. My only experience is with their branded one http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?pid=34871
I find it very progressive and easy to drive with.

Mine doesn't cope with 16psi. It will on a brand-new plate, but with a little wear it slips and doesn't recover.

so if im planing on running over 16psi (which i am) then i need the paddle clutch?
or what about a double grey with the back plate lugs machined to 23.5mm, and the organic plate?

As far as I know you don't really want to use a double grey clutch plate as they wipe out your thrust bearings in no time!!

The double-grey doesn't actually benefit from the backplate lug height mods. If running a double-grey, you need to keep the standard height of 25.4mm.

They don't wipe out the thrust bearings if you treat them with mechanical sympathy - ie don't sit with your foot on the clutch pedal for any longer than it's needed.

MattWoods has been running one for a few years - and I don't believbe he's had a 'failure' of his thrusts as of yet - and there is no-one who puts as many miles on their turbo mini as he does...

iv already got into the habbit of slipping it into netural in traffic and when i stop etc! i dont think that will be a problem.

I know MW uses an organic plate, so the answer to your question is a resounding yes...

Speaking of double greys though, do you need a leg like a hydraulic ram to use one?
