Hey lads, thought it was about time to prove that I do actually have a mini that I'm working on at the moment!
I was given it for free, a 998cc City E. Failed it's mot on a couple of points only so thought it was a perfect project car that wouldn't need to much work... WRONG!!!

First order of the day was the driverside... the metal moths had savaged it quite badly, so needed rebuilding.

The original...

Upper patch welded in.

Replacement panel welded in.

Side finished- all welded and primed to protect it til proper painted. All air vents are blocked with patches cause I won't need 'em.

Next order of the day was the passenger side, which was thankfully not too bad but still needed a replacement panel.

Scuttle plate also needed patching.

Then this weekend, we took it down on the grass and rolled it onto iit's side to get to the sills and floor pans... only to find more rust and bodged repairs. It was while my mate was cutting off the floor pans I discovered the back end was a creation of body filler up to 3/4" thick!

The rear subframe mount... a wee bit dodgy!

Anyways, that's it for now... really want to get the bodywork out of the way to do something mechanical but that's a way away!
So far quite pleased with it, since this is my first experience of welding (I'm self taught).
Anyways, expect more updates when we've done more work... possibly just one more for the body work.

There is no sense crying over every mistake- you just keep on trying til you run out of cake.
