Just put a s/c input gear on the new box, so twiddled with the selector shaft, locked it in 1st and 4th, tightened the badboy up, took it out of 1st, but it wouldnt come out of 4th....

tried putting it back in 1st and trying to take it out of 4th first, but still no joy. Basically its stuck in 4th and no matter what combo or selector shaft twiddling and screwdriver poking, its just not having it.

Now usually, when ive done this in the past, the selector comes right back almost out of the box, and to put it back, you just push it back in, and twist it clockwise a bit to relocate it, but with this box, it will go back in, but i cant twist it clockwise back into position....presumably because the 3 selector pivot things are not lined up.

Anyone got any suggestions? After 2 hours prodding and having got nowhere im a bit fed up with it!

Thanks in advance

joe

Sometimes they just get bound up against the shaft; and need a set of mole-grips on the selector shaft (for a good purchase) to be given a sharp tug.

This sounds like what has happened in your case...

stowmaket suffolk

the bell crank lever has jammed were the lever and slector join on the lobe, quiet common when locking up the box,
easiest way is to remove the laygear and shaft, and get your hand in there to push the two together.

always looking for them bigger bunches of bannanas

Cheers guys, am i right in thinking its the middle one that needs pushing over a littte to allow the 4th gear selector to come back?

will whip the laygear out after lunch and have a poke about.

Thanks again
