Hi all, I was just wondering how easy it is to get insurance on a mini with a k1100 head, What do you declare it as?
Still deciding what im gonna do with my engine whether to go the T2 turbo route or the K1100 route, bearing in mind im only 19 (probally 20 when i finish my mini), insurance might be abit expecive, especially after i just lost my no claims earlier this year :(

What does everyone think i should do?
Thanks, Shaun *smiley*

I wouldn't have though it would be any different to any other modified engine, I know HIC aren't particularly interested in what mods you do as long as you tell them how many bananas it makes.

If you're worried about insurance I'd suggest that you phone around an get some quotes before you start, rather than discover that you've made something that you can't afford to insure.

No problems to insure - fully comp with all mods declared on my gold drag car is around £180 fully comp - 2000 miles limit and I'm an old git!

the SC clubby K demo car is around the same with I think 6k mile limit on it, though this is insured for various people to drive.

as people say get quotes beforehand, at the end of the day its a modded mini so shouldn't be a problem.

If Carling made Mini engines
it would probably be like this one!

I like nice quiet girly Minis

John ..... that seems a little expensive to me .... either you have history or you need to move!!!!

I live in Cheltenham, the home of the chav (CHeltenham AVerage) unfotunately and we have a HUGE boy race problem here and based on 200BHP and a 6K mile limit I was given a guide quote of £210....

As the guys say .... HIC are brilliant ... used them for at least 2 cars a year for the last 10 years.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...
