Decided after my t3 i bought had more play in the shaft than a kids wobbly tooth id go to the effort of buying a T2 and converting my T3 manifold.
Today i took the plunge and won this on eBay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...81991%26fvi%3D1
is this an okay size tubby to run on my 1293 with ph2 cam etc... from doing a quick search i think it will be ok.
Only thing im worried about now is the seller had 2 turbos exactly the same listed and the other finished for £10 more than the one i won 1 minute after mine finished so im hoping he didnt accidently post the turbo twice and now sells it to the higher bidder!

.....and finally, has anyone successfully used a v band downpipe on a T2 instead of having to try fabricate an elbow?

Hi Daniel!
these turbo specs look very familiar to me, think you made a big deal.
they have been used on gt turbo swiss cup with very good result , max boost at 3500 with a ph2 (don't use 1.5 you'll kill the torque and boost curve for only a few hp on top)
very good turbo up to 15/psi
depending of the quality of the job (intercooling manifolds exhaust ...) it'll end in the 170+bhp

i just hope i get this turbo now and the guy doesnt mess me about.

Once it arrives ill then have the task of adapting my T3 manifold and trying to fabricate all the bits i need to get it to fit. I work in a machine shop so making the adaptor plate for the manifold shouldnt be too hard to make but what im worried about most is whether or not ill beable to make the elbow.

I'm just about to make up the outlet pipe. I'm going to base mine on the Mirage setup - very simple:

im trying to find out abotu v bands as they might work as a down pipe/elbow but they dont seem to be as popular here as they are in the states.
I have a maniflow turbo downpipe so will need to make an elbow so it fits onto this or try weld the elbow to the downpipe if that will be easier but i wont really beable to do this till the engine is built up fully and in the mini so it fits right and doesnt fit subframe etc...

I think most people just cut the swaged end off the maniflow pipe and slide in the mirage type outlet.

Can anyone confirm this and advise the inside diameter of the maniflow downpipe?

turbo arrived today, brand new and even in its origional garret box! very impressed. The hard work begins now though in figuring out what connections are for oil, what are for water and what size banjo, connection i need for each one.

No turning back now!!
