I have done a search but could only yield Garret T3 T2 posts.

I have a IHI RHB5 turbo, the gaskets are hard to find, unless i go to main dealer or something.

I was wondering if anyone has made their own gasket?
what materials work best, is it generally laser cut steel?
is there a special sealant that can withstand high temp, that could be used?

Cheers
Chris

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

hmm, bet that works well...

if you want to use something like that then you want really, really good faces.

just pick a car with that turbo on and get a gasket from them. i'm sure they cant be that hard to find?

I don't use a gasket. Haven't done for the past 6 years.

How do you get the faces to seal?

Are they machined really flat?

is there any blowing?

I just use one of those 'belt linishers' from machine mart or similar to get a flat face, and job's a goodun.
Never had any problems.

On a dutch forum I read something about using a piece of copper plate. This guy heated it to redhot and cooled it of rapidly with water. He uses it on a turbocharged starion engine

If you have a few hours to spare....

As long as the surfaces are totally flat, gaskets should not be required.
Ive bolted up many a turbo install with no gaskets.
