would this work - get 2 front subframes back to back but with a gap inbetween em to fit a couple of seats, made a chassis to support the seats and mounts either end for either subframe....

you could have the engine on the back to make it rear wheel drive - not sure how gearlever would work but im sure there be a way - and the petrol tank/rad in the front like a Z car.

id be tempted to try this as a way of learning to weld - if i got the right sizes mated up i could take the finished chassis to someone who knows what theyre doing to weld propper *wink*

not sure on how to style body whether you'd use a mini front or play with fibreglass etc and try something different.

any thoughts on this?!

oh yer theres a GTM on ebay.... so how does it work? unless the head is on back to front (which i doubt *wink* ) cos the engine sits that way its like it has 4 reverse gears and 1 forward - that make sence? i not very technical at explaining!

the gear linkage is simple. turn the gear lever assy 180degs and run the rod under the sump back into the gear box as it would be in fwd car?

does that make sense? prob not!

I test drove one of these 25 years ago, great cars.

The subframes both point forwards, not back to back.

if the subbys were back to back is there a way to make the driveshafts turn the other way?

Stick it in reverse?

Sorry but I couldn't resist.

EDIT: On a more serious note I'm not sure if it would have an effect on the suspension, if everything is backwards, I'm guessing that the tie-bars would now be in tension but I'm not entirely sure what difference that would make, initially I thought it would be decremental but the more I think about it the more confused I get.

If your going to try something like this from scratch I suggest you buy a full copy of the Single Vehicle Approval guide from the DVLA (About £40 I think) as you might find that this is going to be a real PITA as far as SVA is concerned.

The freestyle buggy is fairly cool and just what you suggest and done to SVA standards .... cheap too for what you get.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

not sounding funny or anything but from the questiions you are asking i dont think you are up to the job at the moment.
try not to run before you can walk sort of thing.

if you want to learn to weld why not make some gardn gates or something.
