Red, no question.

Ben you are confused. The yellow are harder than the red.

We have red on the rear and yellow on the front.

Ops. Then I am wrong then. We run reds and wil led me to believe that they were the harder. The sooner I get my own car and set it up how I want it the better. I get so many bum steers.

My answer has now changed to I don't know, but I would go for yellow having tried red on slicks.

Yes, I was confused for a long time too. Both are shown here:

btw Ben, I have a pair of red dots for you somewhere. I'll bring them down at the weekend.

Neither use what Baldwin & Sollis use
spectra dynamics cones. They use a shore hardness of 95 but Phil Short reckons 80 and these are what i run and they are very hard.

We did try to get some of those once, but the guy seemed less than interested in supplying or giving any information on them so we gave up.

Being poly the don't deteriorate as much as rubber cones do but might be a touch too hard for everyday use

Surprised at that - the bloke could not have been more helpful even to the extent that last year supplied me some bushes FOC for the Mini Pedal car I restored for my son for Christmas

I like nice quiet girly Minis

Well predictably I'm going to say none of the above ...... go coil overs .... change the springs (unless you go for the Protech ones ... they seem ok from the box) to suit your tastes.

With coil overs you can have whatever rates you want.

I firmly believe that coil overs have got a bad rap on Minis due to the fact that a lot of people don't set the car up properly with them on ... get the rates right for your driving style, sort the geometry / roll bars at the same time to match and trust me .... you'll never fit doughnuts to a track car again!!!!

I still use doughnuts on road cars though as the mountings, rear especially, can suffer with the load of road driving with people in the back etc.

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

Yellow cones on a road car is a no-no in my book. The red ones makes my race car jump around like mad on the public bumpy roads.

thanks vegard we all know how "good" the Norwegian road net is…maybe go softer then…wonder how hard my old ones are compared to red dots…
i don´t really care about street performance really, it´s a track toy mainly, but don´t want to lose traction at the front going to hard, have a slightly lighter carrot than the a-series not sure if thats has much effect

suspension feels "little dead" as it is know, want better feedback:)

seen those cone coils, would be fun to test but they are £300 allround from minispares, anyone tried them on track?

Just for info, the spectra dynamics cones are no longer available.

I've got a set & was considering getting some spare 'cones' made up. after a while enquiring, Spectra dymanics has changed ownership a couple of times since they made these.

They are no longer made, and the company who owns the tooling to remake them, isn't remotely interested.

I'm also interested in some yellow/red spot cones. The car is basically a weekend (and occasional track) toy, so would the yellows be too much?

I was thinking of going yellows at the front, and reds on the rear (it's a van, so the back end is quite light).

Too many projects!

I think Swiftune do an uprated cone. Might be worth trying them.

Nick.

I'm pretty sure the yellow dot cones from minispares are the ones that were made for Swiftune. IIRC Swifty had them made first (through spares), and then minispares later started to sell them direct.

Too many projects!

i just went for the genuine rover ones. i sound like a bore i know but i was told they last longer than the others and wont sag as quickly. i cant back this up as i dont have any proof of it as its just what i was told.
