ok i know technically this should probably be in the help needed section but as it is more of a general query i stuck it here.

is there a specific location the the sensor needs to be placed ie distance and angle from the trigger wheel ? reason i ask is you good peeps seem to have to make brackets etc etc, i noticed on the timing chain cover there is a square holder, is ther eno way of welding a small bracket on the timing chain cover and have the sensor at the back with the wire running up the bulkhead ? do you catch me drift ?

I believe it has to be positioned at 9 o,clock looking at the front pulley.

You can correct a small error, but I don't think you can move it a long way without re-writing the code.

The sensor needs to be 90 degrees before the missing tooth on the wheel, which is usually at TDC or 12 oclock, hence the normal sensor position being at 9 oclock.

Yeh, I was being a bit thick above.

As long as you machine the missing tooth 90 degrees ahead of the sensor position, you can fit it where you like.

You can indeed theoretically fit it where you want so long as the relationship between the missing tooth, TDC, and sensor is correct. However in practise you are limited by physical things, the water pump and fan belt for example. It makes it easy positioning it at 9 o clock looking at the pulley along the crank axis as you have the bottom face of the block to use as a reference.

mine is place at around 7 o clock , as it doesent matter where it is as long as it is 90* anticlockwise from the missing tooth at TDC

this pic is from http://www.starchak.ca/efi/efi.htm

and moving it?
