I am looking for a guinne pig! I have made an oil return pipe for the T2, and uses the silicone hose tht is standard fitment on the T3.
The fitting I have made is adapted from the oil drain fitting off an R5Gtt, if this works ok, I am tempted to knock a few out for peeps on here who may need them.
If anyone has a spare drain fitting off the R5 T2 unit and wants to try one please Pm me.
All toughts on this welcome, the pics attached are of the fitting prior to me brazing it up, I was unable to do this this eve as there was no one in the workshop to fire watch for me (company policy, got my wrist slapped for that before)

I think there was talk a while ago about using brazed copper pipe for the oil return, and I think the consensus was that there could be issues with brazing due to the heat of the oil. You might want to do a search before you go to far down this route.

PS you are further ahead with your Mirage install that I am.

Shropshire.

I agree with Rob, think you might have issues with the brazing.. you dont want the pipe fallling off.

Brazing will not be a problem, it'll need to get red hot to melt.

The previous concern was with solder, which would be a problem.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

i cant see the oil being hot enough to melt good quality solder at all.

easy enough to check the spec of the solder then as long as its melting point is over 150oC then i wouldnt worry at all.

I think I saw that thread, I think the person who had made it uses 15mm yorkshire plumbing fittings? The copper Im using Is a lot better qaulity than plumbers copper, wall thickness is also greater, the solder used is high content silver solder, which the melting point is alot higher than the oil temp will ever be. I have used these fittings and solder on refrigeration systems where the discharge (hot gas) temps are a few degrees lower than what you gents are happy to have your oil at. If any one has a query about the strenght of the fitting, when I use them at work, depending on the refrigerant the system uses, we pressure test between 15 and 40 Bar! I have no worries about the materials for the aplication,
I mearly wanted a guinee pig to try it as I am a fair way off completing my build, and if the feed back was good, I was going to knock a few out so you chaps wouldnt have the hassle of devising one.
