hi everyone, im quite new to changing brake shoes, but i managed to do the ones on my mini ok, so ive decided to have a go at my fiesta ones.

When i took everything apart, one side was used down to the metal, and the other side had laods of life left in it.

I changed them over I found it quite easy, it was just like a mini, and now the one that was used down to metal is sticking.

Ive fully slackened off the handbrake cable and thats slack so its not that causing it.

The only thing i can think it could be is the cylinder it seems like its jamming, is this a known fault? Ive been and bought a new one.

My question is,
a) If it is that causing the problem, how can i change the cylinder?
b) Does anyone know how much i should torque the centre nuts on the hubs that have the bearings in back up to when ive done, i dont have a haynes

Thankyou everyone!!! sorry to ask a mnon-mini question but im halfway through now and stuck :(

Shite, I did have a fester manual round here somewhere, buggered if i can lay my hands on it tho...

besides it was a mk 3 one.

IIRC the torque was about 60 ft lb though, anyone confirm this??

basically the same, same principle anyway. its a thingy with 2 pistons and a fluid pipe feeding it like a mini, I seem to remember ford ones being held on with nuts from the back rather than a clip like the mini.

If you take it off fluid will come out, but a pair of grips on the flexi hose will minimise that.

or a bit of cling film over the top of the brake fluid resovoir.
