noticed tonight whilst the covers were off the diff that the pot joint output shafts flanges (LSD) have eaten into the dif side cover a good 1/8"...

is this the norm? I wouldnt have thought...whats caused the side loads on the output shaft?

never happened to me over the years ,but my good friend Ian Jonson had the same problem,,

1/8 is a lot of chewing, are you sure,

i have a theory, but its a thin one,

possible cause!

i have seen this on many occasions and i think its caused by hi speed torque cornering

hence you have none on yours carl

No idea what milage its done, hopefully not much, its the box I bought from Avonbar last month (off a turbo challenge car i think??)

Not heard of the bush wearing, Ive run Salisbury for 3 years and had the output retaining washer eat into the aluminium of the side cover.

A tip when using hardy spicer joints on the shafts is to put a inner valve spring inside the hole in the HS joint where the splines to the driveshaft is. Then it will always push that thing away from the sidecover and that wear is avoided:)
