I am just sorting my wire out on my EDIS unit. Wiring is not my best area so a little help is need.
On the connector wires 1,3 and 4 as you can see in the picture are all joined in the shield should it be separated or left alone. Wires 5 and 6 which are for the trigger are then linked into wires 1, 3 and 4. Does this all need to be separated? thanks *wink*

In the edis 4 pic whats the black loop for that runs to 7 and 9? I assume you dont need saw and pip to get it running?

Indeed you don't need the connection to the MJ (SAW and PIP) to get the system running. Without the SAW and PIP the EDIS unit will run in limp mode (fixed 10degs advance if i'm correct).

The black loop connected to 7 and 9 is connected to the shield of the shielded cable to the VR sensor and the cable to the MJ. The cable to the MJ doesn't really need to be shielded, the cable to the VR sensor does.

Sorry do you mean they should be shielded or physically connected somehow? Cheers

I have the sensor less than 1 mm away, so you have to make sure the pully is true. Connect all the sheilded wire together. Thats what I done.

About the shielded wire, surely its just a cover that goes over it? I dont get what connects to what and what those black lines are all about lol.

The shielded wire has 2 cores within it, and then a braided wire covering around it, this braid protects it from interferance, it should be earthed at the ECU end ONLY.

But that diagram shows it earthed in conjunction with 7 and 9 neither of which connects to the mj. The shielded cable i got is just black..

Put the shield of the wire from the VR sensor and the PIP/SAW wire to pin 7 then split the wire and cannect it to the ground.
