Hi all,

Just been looking on the Autosport Labs site and there is a new version of the V3 software allowing you to switch between two ignition configurations via a driver-operated switch (mounted on the dash etc). Its a bit above and beyond what i need at the moment, but could be a useful tool.

Could be useful if you wanted to run two different types of fuel I suppose. And if you wanted a tamer setup for the road and one for racing. To be fair though, like you, above and beyond what i need!

There is no sense crying over every mistake- you just keep on trying til you run out of cake.

yeah i was thinking one set up for eco road use another for harder track / 1/4 mile use… but to be fair if it was me it would always be in the latter setting. :)

Mark its not a case of ones of different uses....

its only use is to allow you to run two different ignnition maps... say for 95 ron and for bp102

*happy*

I have added this to my test loom it's a pretty cool feature.

I was planning on using it as Alex stated, one for cheap fuel and one for good fuel.

I just meant that for road use you may want a bit more retardation to ensure prevention of detonation, whereas a race engine may try to risk it. And I said about the fuels *wink*

There is no sense crying over every mistake- you just keep on trying til you run out of cake.

What about high and low boost settings for fine tuning.

Low boost will just work in a different part of the same map. Thats the beauty of mapped ignition........

Badger - it will make MORE power when the ignition is right.

Just before you Det you LOOSE power

So its not a case of "risking it".

Is the rev limiter switched as well?

If so I'd put it on a keyed switch so that when I had to leave the car anywhere (MOT for example) it could be set to super safe timing and 2000 rpm max or something silly ...... stop the b'stards ragging your car without you there!!!

Every day is a school day ...........

How fast and how expensive ...... the same question...

I know what you mean... a friend of mine had his newly rebuild engine trashed by some valet parking wanker at some hotel. The dude floored it a couple of times with a cold engine late at night to show off.

The car has a custom mapping without rev limiter and the turbothingy computer showed it was revved beyond 8500rpm.
