Am I right in thinking that I will still need my choke to warm the engine up when using MJ.

Cheers, guys

Yep.

Although with vs 3 you can switch between two different maps, so it could / should be possible to have a map for when the engine is cold & one for when the the engine is up to temperature, it should even be possible with a few bits of electronics to automatically change between the two maps. Hum you've got me thinking now.

i would of thought that the megajolt would have temperature compensation?

that way you dont need 2 maps for for hot and cold.

still doesnt do anything to richen it up for you though which is what the choke does...

oh and by the way. i dont bother with the choke on mine but its not a daily driver, if it was then i certainly would be using a choke.

it will be a daily driver i think - hoping the megajolt will make it a bit more reliabel - otherwise i'll just have to get another mini and supercharge it

The megajolt does not have temperature comp, you have to remember it is a very basic system that does a good job for the money, but it doesn't have all the whistles and bells of omex/emerald etc etc

oh right, havent played you see.

still doesnt alter the fact you need a choke on a carb setup *smiley*

i'm thinking of getting one for another project though.

i find that i use choke, but because the spark is much much better, the engine warms up after about 5 mins running. and the massive amount of fuel that goes into my motor might help too.

when the engine is cold you do not adjust the ignition timing - the engine does not need it.

You do however need to add extra fuel on cold start to over come the incresed drag of the engine and the fact that the fuel amotisation is much worse.
