hey guys
i have a metro turbo engine
i was wondering if after a rebore to 1360 would i need to do anything to maybe increase the compression ratio again?
im planning on running a T2 turbo and not having a lot of boost. maybe around 10-12 psi

thanks

tom

reboring is likely to increase your CR anyway... so you may need to lower it, rather than raise it.

What pistons are you using to get to 1360cc?

1360 is probably minipares/ ketih calver/ Russel engineering pistons.

They do a 73mm piston, that comes out at 1360cc

Depends on the CR your aiming at.

For a road motor that is really nice to drive you should try to get the power you want with the minimum amount of boost ...... this isn't the 80s ...lol

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

if its your first turbo engine aim for 8.5:1 CR would be my advice

If your going to run about 130 bhp tops (guess you've chosen that limit so you don't have to go for straight cut gears etc.) then you can go a little higher than Benross suggests ... but I'd use a megajolt to give you spot on ignition control which will help it all hang together.

I am going for low 9s (about 9.2:1 if my sums work out) and blowing 10psi over the top for Candice's build and that should be in the ball park of power you are after.

If you think you might want to go for a bit more power later then follow what Benross suggest as 8.5:1 will allow you to run a bit more boost.

Down side to low compression is poor fuel economy and off boost performance, not really too much of a consideration for a track motor or a weekend warrior but if you hav eto drive it to work everyday, especially across a busy town / city, then it will soon get to be a royal pain in the butt. These, along with the fact that straight cut gears are a complete no-no as far as Candice is concerned for a daily driver (and I have to say I agree) which is what her car will be, are the reasons I am happy to except the power limitations of running a higher CR motor.

Lets face it there isn't going to be much that will hang with a 130bhp turbo Mini in your typical urban sprawl....

for 130bhp I would go:

1293cc
9:1 CR
Intercooler
MJ

And you should be there with about 8-10psi.

130hp, that's a lot of bananas for your missus to drive around. Do you expect her to stuff it through the hedge and like the heavy clutch? I would seriously consider putting a block of wood under the accellerator!!!!

Bugger off, I'm getting there.

I think that was aimed at me ....

Candice has no problems driving my Porsche sideways and to be honest has better car control than 95% of people I know (should do, I tought her well!!!).

If you like I'm sure she will be only too happy to set a lap time at the Combe action day in your car that you'll spend all day trying to beat ... before giving up *wink*
