a LIL fishing village on the coast - Newcastle Upon Tyne

Well been to Turbo Mini Mecca again today, and managed to get me block built up thanks to Steve yet again for a large amount of time spent showing me stuff ! and the beef curry was sweet too !

well we started off by pulling me block to bits and jet washing all the crap out, a short trip back to the garage and a bit of drying and the fun began. drilling out the oil gallery plugs then tapping the holes so i can have re usable oil gallery plugs.

Then we moved onto the crank building it up stage by stage checking endfloat and free movement through 360 deg, then the pistons went in. everything torqued down nicely and then the crank turned 360 deg a few times to make sure nothing was binding.

a short time later and we installed my phase 2 cam, new followers and the powerflow oil pump. The Steve showed me how to time it all in. originally i had a verneir duplex timing gear which we discussed and took off, it looks bling but dont like the idea of the hole apperatus being relaint on one little pin, needless to say this will get sold on.

timed the cam in at 108deg i get me gearbox back on wednesday so can build up 99% of the engine

well thanks again to Steve the guy just bends over backwards to help, and often i come away thinking of ways i can repay his kindness ! a facet fuel pump is on its way to you buddy !!!

i have ahd belt drives in the past and they all leak (ones i have had) and when we looked at the vernier setup although a nice bit of kit, the cam sprocket is held in situ with one very slim pin, which i dont want to risk if it fails, the one i got is practically brand new, but iam going for 150bhp so went for the solid item.

i am selling me vernier setup for 40 quid if anyone wants it.
