from research and other forums it appears that the 12g295 head and dish pistons will give me the correct compression.

im finding it very hard to obtain one that hasnt been skimmed so am wondering what other heads i can use. i know i can use a 940 but it means enlarging the chamers to get the correct compression which i dont feel confident doing and dont want to pay anyone to do the work

would i be able to run a standard 998 head or a 1098 until i can find a 295 would a 998 or 1098 head work and would i lose a lot of power.

just so you know im planning on using t2 from a bluebird, mg metro cam. its a daily runner so doesnt need silly bhp. well not yet anyway

For moderate performance and up to 12 psi boost and an intercooler, you should be OK with an unskimmed 12G295 and flat topped pistons.

If you can't find a 12G295 head that has not been skimmed, then you need dished pistons.

Most A+ 998s seem to have flat topped pistons.

You could use the 20773 dished pistons and a skimmed 295.

The standard 998 and 1098 heads would probably be OK for starters as lond as you use the dished pistons.

You need to find out what you can get and do the calculations and aim for 9:1 CR if you are using an intercooler, lower if not.

oh rite didnt realise i could use a 295 thats been skimmed as long as i use dished pistons thats wot ill do.

ive got one engine that got flat tops and another with dished pistons so can use either. the bolck with dished pistons seems in much better nick so will prob use that. i spose to compensate for the skimming i could always use a thicker head gasket.
