I'd personally say depends on your facilities. If you havn't got an engine crane, or are using a flip front, drop the car onto it. If not vice versa. There is no sense crying over every mistake- you just keep on trying til you run out of cake. |

i hate doing the car lifting method, prefer to drop the engine in from the top even if i had to hire a crane for a day. On 20th Oct, 2015 Tom Fenton said:

Cheers guys, i was worried that i might have trouble bolting on all the turbo bits once the engine was in situe. Think i might just lift the car and slide the gnien in along with the subframe.

I've never really understood why anyone would want to remove the whole subframe when only the engine needs to come out.

Yep I have to agree with Wil. I have removed a subframe and engine as one once, never again. You have to get the body so high to clear the engine and balancing the subframe is a pain.

And if you do it like above, you now have a car you can't move easily, and an engine top heavy on a subframe with wheels that want to go anywhere but straight! Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph
