Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

Firstly you must get in your head ...............there is no such thing as problems only... SOLUTIONS! *wink*

Tappets
Have you set them using the rule of 9 ?

(ie) opposite each other and took into account the inlet and exhaust clearances ? Which ...... MAY be different

the dump valve, i have the same and it happent to me only once, this sticks because of ingress of dirt

Remove it and use some lube on the outside and get a blunt screwdriver and joss the piston up and down from the inside on the hose connection to the the plenum, the larger orafice

remember work through eatch fault as it occurs and be persistent!

and remember ...................there is no such thing as problems only... SOLUTIONS! *wink*

its not plain sailing for any of us at times

I've heard the Bailey piston type valves are prone to sticking on the A-Series, as fuel vapour makes the seal swell. You can get a Viton seal to cure this apparentley.

Lol sailing i wish it was sometimes least it would move! Worst thing is people coming in the yard saying you aint got that car on the road yet.

The Guy from MED reckons 0.40 set at that taps its head off though so not sure where that leaves me. exhaust and inlet he said was the same.

PAP!

problem after problem!

With number 1 valve open, check the clearance on number 8 tappet, number 2 open check number 7

1+8, 2+7 etc.

the 0.40 sounds like its a metric mesurement,

If you are setting them with imperial feeler gauges you should mbe looking at something like 15 thou, depending on your cam.

If you have set them to 40 thou that will be noisy!!

I had the same problem with my Bailey dump valve. Ended up that the piston seal had split! Mr Bailey wont send me a new one either, I was told to send the whole thing back!

In the 13's at last!.. Just

15thou (inch) valve clearance will be fine in my experience.
