So got the TT2 all back together, just the suspension to setup last night. This would give me plenty of tome to sort little things before we go to Prescott on Saturday.

Whilst doing the caster I found loads of play in the rack. I checked it before i put it back on and it seemed ok. Bugger.

I suspect the play is in the ball joints rather than the rack. Are these changable with the rack in-situ, if you can even buy the part.

Or is it change rack time?

I hope you are not using the rack that was on the car when you picked it up from me. The original rack was worn, so I fitted a recon item obtained from a friend who worked at a motor factors. The car failed it's next mot due to play in the recon the steering rack.

No no no. It was a brand new quick rack. I guess it suffered in the off more than I thought.

It's a rack off job, to be honest. I tried, and gave up....

Cheers Vegard.

If you've tried and failed, then it's too hard.

titan motorsport do a rack kit that is meant to be changable on the car (but not the first time), better quality too apparently.

There is no room to drill the lock pins out or fitting vices etc. That's the problem. Have a look at it, and I guess you'll agree. Unfortunately.

I know. One thing you could try, (tip from Rich at minispares north) is to put a screwdriver in on the side that has play in it and knock/push the bush inwards towards the center of the rack. They have a habbit of moving outward causing play he said...
