Raced at Silverstone International today.

Qualified in the wet with a guessed set up that worked a treat, 4th on grid in a 44 car session on dry tyres in VERYwet conditions.

Got a great start and got in front of the front row cars to lead into Copse, despite turning in and power on I span taking me down to 6th, I was not the only car to spin and some cars were damaged badly.

I worked up to 3rd on lap 1, and 2nd by 4. as the track dried my gamble of the 048R "dry" tyre worked and I gained good lap times and realed in the leader who was now not getting the best out of his wet choice.

Gained the lead and edged way ahead, drove just fast enough to keep my lead not to tax the car too much.

Took the chequered to win over a 44 car race.

UNFORTUNATELY!!... unbeknown to myself I had overtook in the confusion of lapping slower cars during a yellow flag and I was invited to the Clerk of the Course's office to be disiplined and stripped of my race win and 12 championship points.

I fully respect the clerks descision and know rules are rules and people's safety is paramout.

A gutted JF...

unlucky jon, easily done though.

from watching some in car footage of the super mightys from mallory you couldn't even see them waving the red flags when one chap had rolled in the middle of the esses. some of the marshalls boxes aren't exactly well placed.

Unlucky mate, it was chaos in the spray, on a soaked track. Must have been tough to see through. And like bud666 says some of the marshalls posts are miles away from the track, especially at silverstone.

You had a great setup from what i saw, and you were clearly faster. Gutted for you mate, you were robbed.

Bad luck JF, at the end of the day its a technicality. A wins a win, even if its not on paper.

i was at gaydon today mate - gutted for you about the yellow flag but i know the marshalls are miles away from the track at silverstone and in the wet especially concentrating on your line. agree with joeybaby though - a win is still a win. good luck in the next race though

Bummer.

I remember at MIRA they used to have the man with the red flag 50yrs from the track on the left hand side; just when you were braking from 100mph to 40 for a right hander, you don't look left at all.

The man now runs out with the flag, after plenty of people missed it.
