I tape up the rubber hoses wit duct tape, & any areas that are vital to the fuction of the brake, ie the caliper pistons & seals then i use a wire brush attachment on a drill, it brings them up a treat! gotta be the best method other than blasting!

i've just cleaned & painted the drums on my dads rover 414, came up as new, i've done the front calipers but have to get pics of them!!!
rear drums on my dads rover, theres masking taper on the wheelstuds in that pic

We do fine sand blasting at work. Just check out local yellow pages, problably only cost £5-10. Got a local firm doing my wheels as it takes awhile, only £15 a rim.

Get one of those wire wheels that fits on an angle grinder, like the type that spiked Nic in the ball bag. They are just the job for this kind of thing.

Aye, have to go with tom on this one- wire wheel on the angle grinder FTW. Other than that, how far away are you from Bristol? no promises but may be able to get a mate to shot blast them for you.

There is no sense crying over every mistake- you just keep on trying til you run out of cake.

2 front subrames and a rear cost £50 at the local foundry, they prime them with red lead after too.

Well if you still need them done, I'll be at Berkeley Castle 21-22 of august. If you're coming into Joust then it'll be easy, if not I'll have to meet you outside or sommit. Not gonna look too medieval, guy in armour wandering back to camp carrying a couple of four pot calipers! lol *happy*
